August of 1988 was the turning point for Homer Robin ( President ) and Jim Guilbeaux, Sr. (Vice-President). Homer was a buyer for a local produce firm and was laid off in August. Jimbeaux (as he prefers) decided that he might be next, so he contacted Homer and together they started Freshko Foodservice, Inc. in an abandoned warehouse North of Lake Charles, La.
With more than 150 years of combined experience, the Freshko team, has achieved in many areas in the industry:
- For five consecutive years and counting, the company has been listed in the Top 50 privately owned businesses of Imperial Calcasieu Parish.
- Freshko has more than doubled sales within the past three years.
- The company expanded its business and installed state-of-the-art refrigeration systems in its warehouses.
